My life was not stable all the time. More than sixteen years ago I was working for the Mexican Armed Forces where some of the soldiers I worked with told me about Jesus Christ. The last thing I wanted was to know anything about God.
One day I wasn’t able to sleep for three days. I was so tired that while I was driving, I fell asleep. When I woke up it was too late. I knew I was going to have an accident. So in the few seconds that I had, I decided to swerve into a hole so I wouldn’t hurt anyone around me. And I cried out to God.
The car was so damaged that when people saw it, they told me that it was a miracle I was alive and that nothing happened to me. That’s when I decided to follow Him. I decided to live my life the way He wanted.
After I accepted Jesus as my Savior, all the blessings started to come to my life, and one of them was Amor. I started working for Amor fifteen years ago. To me it was the perfect job because I was going to work and serve God at the same time. I started working as a Field Specialist. I worked with the Pastors, the families, and the groups.
Working with the groups is the part I enjoy the most about my job. Seeing them invest their time with Amor is priceless. Whenever I work with the groups, I can see they are so happy about the house - as much as the family.
The house is a starting point for the family to overcome poverty. Seeing the family receive a house gives me hope - that everything is possible.
A year ago I was promoted and I now supervise the camp and the people that work directly in camp. Years ago, I was lost, looking for a solid life, and Amor brought that to me. My co-workers, the groups, and the families have provided that for so many years.
Amor has impacted my life in many ways. They have helped me to not look back at my past, but to move forward. I am thankful I am part of Amor. My life hasn’t been easy but the only thing I can say is, “Ebenezer, thus far the Lord has helped us.” 1 Samuel 7:12
