I’m absolutely humbled by the outpouring of support we received this #GivingTuesday! Whether you gave a monetary donation, shared about Amor on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook or participated in our first-ever blabathon - you rocked it!
We sought to raise enough money to fully sponsor four homes for four families in need before the end of the year through our Casa de Amor Program. Did we meet our goals? The short answer is no. As of this writing, we received $1,891 through our crowdsourcing for #GivingTuesday and $1,340 to support other programs in Amor.
However, you helped create waves about our cause of Building Hope that will ripple long after #GivingTuesday ends, and as we close 2015 and look with hope to 2016.
I would like to extend special thanks to everyone who helped us create our #GivingTuesday campaign for this year.
First, I want to thank Charlotte Instone, a graduate from the London College of Fashion and founder of the ethical clothing brand Know The Origin (launching in March 2016). Charlotte volunteered her time to join us as a panelist in our World Changer discussion by sharing with us the importance and complications of finding transparency throughout the manufacturing process.
Also, special thanks to another of our world changing panelist, André Leferge, a development worker specializing in engaging the next generation to participate in the Kingdom of God. He shared with us his latest books, where he journals the experiences and relationships of people whose stories should be heard. He also shared with us his passion for education and how his hometown church in the UK is impacting education in Burkina Faso.
Thank you Gayla and Jordan Congdon for sharing with us about transferring the lesson of generosity to the next generations.
Thank you Scott Congdon, Luis Millan and Nick Rawson for sharing your expertise and passion about the impact of building homes in Mexico for families living in extreme poverty.
Thank you also to our social media star Wendy Weldon Bennett who, among others, shared about the impact that Amor has had in her life and the life of the families she has served.
A big thank you to all my team members here at Amor who shared and assisted with the campaign. Vanessa, thank you for using your talents to create beautiful imagery. Special thanks to Andy, Jeff, Jono, Monste, Erin, Kate and Alyssa for making the blabs a success. We made it to the homepage of blab and hundreds of people had an opportuntity to hear our message. And last but not least, thank you to Greg L and Greg S who put everything out there for this campaign.
And again, thank YOU for supporting Amor during #GivingTuesday. By participating, you were a part of something huge. After weeks of bad news in the media, celebrating generosity through Giving Tuesday has turned the tides and now we can begin focusing on what this season is all about, a season to love, not only those close to us, but to open our arms to our neighbors and to those less fortunate, to proclaim the biggest disruption this world has ever witnessed - the birth of Jesus!
